6-1-2026: Where are you going?

Where the wind takes us. Quite literally.

We have a start date and a starting location. We have an end date and an end location. Everything in between is up to Mother Nature. The weather, the wind, the sea conditions, the people we meet, and the opportunities we discover along the way will shape our route.

On June 27, we fly to Grenada to begin the process of moving aboard Elizabeth. We'll spend the first few months learning the rhythms of boat life, making friends, and figuring out what this next chapter looks like for our family.

Sometime after November 1, we'll begin our journey north. The general plan is to sail through the Eastern Caribbean and eventually return to North Carolina around July 1, 2027.

We'll go where the conditions are favorable and where we're able to stay connected with the "buddy boats" we meet along the way. Those friendships and shared experiences will likely shape our route just as much as the weather.

If you know me (and Grace), you know we are planners. We like calendars, schedules, and lists. So this adventure may be one of the biggest growth opportunities of our lives.

Surprisingly, we're all in on this part of the adventure. In fact, it's one of the things we're most excited about. While we don’t know where exactly we will be, we know we will be on our boat and with each other, following the rhythms of each day with each other and our new cruising community.

For the next year, we're choosing to follow the wind, trust the process, and see where the journey takes us. And that feels exactly right. -RH
