“A crew is a group that is in it all the time, no matter what, that is stroking together every minute with the same purpose, that is willing to sacrifice silently for each other, that gives grace, that holds accountable.”
“A crew has the same cares and the same needs, and a crew is inescapably, beautifully, dutifully linked.”

Matt
Matthew is a University professor trading classrooms and deadlines for trade winds and tide charts on a year-long sabbatical aboard Elizabeth. A lifelong boater who grew up comfortable on the water, he made the leap to sailing and went straight to the deep end, setting off on a year-long Caribbean cruise with his family. He's the one aboard most likely to have researched every anchorage, triple-checked the weather window, and still be improvising by noon.
Rachel
Rachel is a nurse scientist and implementation researcher focused on advancing equitable cancer prevention, survivorship, and community-engaged health interventions through community-engaged research and capacity-building initiatives. During her sabbatical sailing year, she is focused on slowing down, spending intentional time with her family, and improving her health. She is most excited about quiet sunrises and spending lots of time in warm ocean waters.
